“Blame Game”, Buhari Should Take Responsibility – Raph McJulius

By the much I know, it’s akin to irresponsibility when a man cannot take responsibility for his actions and the resultant effects. Whether positive or negative, good or bad, failure or success.

This incessant blame game of Buhari to the effect that past administrations are responsible for the woes of today’s Nigeria is unbecoming of a sound leader.

The question in the mind of millions of Nigerians is, was President Buhari expecting a perfect country without challenges, where everything is bed of roses when he was campaigning and asking Nigerians to vote for him?

A good and sound leader, a leader who has something upstairs, ready and equipped with what it takes to turn things around does not go in circles moaning and groaning about those who “destroyed” what he has promised the people to repair or fix before he was elected.

Real leaders don’t do that, they hit the ground running and fixing things, making the desolate places inhabited again. They restore the years the cankerworm has eaten and the caterpillars destroyed. They are not mourners, rather they enliven mourning moods and environments, turning the darkest time of the night to morning.

These breed of leaders are not magicians no, they are miracle workers. Dr. Nnandi Azikiwe belong to that breed, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was of that breed, Kwame Nkruma, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, founding fathers of USE and SINGAPORE respectively, and other founding fathers of the Asian Tigers were of these breed. Raji Fashola, Sulivan Chime and God’swill Akpabio are also of that category of leaders.

These class of leaders turn deserts and wilderness into MEGA CITIES. No one can achieve anything close to what these leaders achieved by blaming your predecessors. Blaming past leaders is tantamount to looking back, and nobody can walk well or far looking back. The only time you can move looking back is when reversing.

I plead that those who has the ears of President Buhari should tell him that this his singsong of blaming Jonathan or past leaders and party for his ineptitude after more than one year in office without anything to show other than these blame songs now sound like broken gong, it doesn’t just make any sense at all. Buhari and this APC government should stop sounding like broken gongs, rather, they should become gung – very enthusiastic and dedicated, else Nigerians will soon treat them as dungs and cast them into dungeon, that’s political wilderness and bottomless pit.

They should ask PDP. I am beginning to think that all this blaming and probing is as a result of not knowing what to do, lack of productive ideas. A Nimbo proverb says that when a man pounding food is tired, he begins to chase chickens, even though they are not near the mortar.
