The Acting Chairman of EFCC Mr. Ibrahim Magu has gotten himself into another trouble as the House of Representatives have ordered his immediate arrest before 7th of November.
The order was as a result of his refusal to appear before the lower house. The Committee on Public Petitions in the lower house issued the arrest warrant against the EFCC Boss.
Ukrido, learnt that the committee had habitually sent invitations across to a Mr. Magu to appear before it base on a petition by wife to the immediate past President of Nigeria Patience Jonathan.
Most of the bank account own by the former First Lady were frozen by orders from EFCC so to enable them carry out some investigation, but after fruitless efforts to get the former First lady into their net, a Federal Hight court sitting in Lagos ordered those banks to unfrozen Mrs. Patience Jonathan’s account.
EFCC didn’t stop at that as they consistently kept joining hands with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to embarrass the former First Lady.
The panel, chaired by Hon. Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (Abia-PDP), said;
“We have sent several letters inviting the EFCC chairman to appear before us to clear the air on the directive the commission gave some banks to freeze Mrs. Jonathan’s accounts.”
Meanwhile Hon. Kingsley Chinda(PDP-Rivers), a member of the committee, moved that a bench warrant be issued against Magu to appear before the panel on the next adjourned date.
Out of the five banks namely Zenith Bank, Eco Bank, First Bank Fidelity Bank and Union Bank, ordered by the court to unfrozen Mrs. Patience Jonathan’s account, only one has complied, which is Union Bank.
The committee has discharge Union bank but instructed the lawyer to Mrs. Jonathan to hold a meeting the management of the remaining four banks so to address the issue.
