Arsenal are interested in a third return to the club for Jens Lehmann.
This time, the former Germany goalkeeper, will be part of manager Arsene Wenger’s backroom shake-up.
Mirror Football revealed last week that ex-Crystal Palace and Newcastle coach, Andy Woodman, is set to take charge of Arsenal’s U-23s.
And although the Gunners’ goalkeeping coach for the past 14 years, Gerry Peyton, has signed a new deal, Arsenal want to bring back Lehmann, who played in every game of the club’s unbeaten 2003/2004 season.
The 47-year-old came out of retirement in 2011 to help Wenger out, following injuries to Wojciech Szczęsny, Łukasz Fabiański and Vito Mannone. The injury crisis left the club with only one fit senior keeper, Manuel Almunia.
There has been a lot of shake-up at the Emirates after last season, with fitness coach Tony Colbert moved sideways and Australian Darren Burgess, brought in as Director of High Performance.
