Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi will not be joining La Liga side Valencia, his agent, John Shittu, has said.
Shittu denied claims that the 29-year-old Nigeria captain has already agreed a four year deal to move to Valencia.
“It is not true that Mikel is joining Valencia on a four-year deal. The information is not correct,” Shittu was quoted as saying by mirror .co.uk.
Reports indicate that there are strong interests for Mikel from the Chinese Super League after Oscar moved from Chelsea to Shanghai SIPG in a £60m move.
Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, Guangzhou Evergrande, Hebei China Fortune and Beijing Guoan have all been in contact with Mikel, who is out of contract with Chelsea in the summer.
Chelsea are prepared to let the Nigerian midfielder go in January and even though Valencia have made an offer, they are not able to match the finance in China.
Valencia still remain hopeful but Inter Milan have also expressed an interest but Mikel is clearly keeping his options open.
